Match Report | Winning run continues... Another week, another returnee and another win. A much changed team brought the second league win on the trot. This one saw the return of Matt Burrows to the field to take a significant role in an eleven goal thriller that condemed Tavistock to a second defeat. An early score from a penalty corner by Jones saw the home side take the lead only to be pegged by a swift response from Tavistock orchestrated by their captain Phil Honey. The visitors then took the lead via a Robinson deflection that gave Hales little chance. After Hales had exchanged a bit of friendly banter with the Tavistock centre forward, three further goals also from penalty corners by Jones and Reeves, twice, ensured that Torbay went in at half time wih a two goal advantage. Despite having to reorganise due to hamstring injuries to Tookey and Foot, Torbay came out for the second half positively on fire and soon added to their tally with veteran striker Burrows burying a brace past a debutante Tavi keeper. Additional goals by Foot and Bradley cofirmed the victory and a late Tavistock goal did little to dampen the home side's spirits as they comfortably held on for the win. Yet again there were good performances from the junior players, given great encouragement from the more senior members of the team and the cool down was again of the Totnes variety "Do the lizard, dog ..." Is this the secret winning ingredient that needs to be adopted by all three sides? Perhaps a visit to a Tibetan monastery is on the cards in the Christmas break! So far plain sailing but choppier waters must lie ahead. On a final note we wish the young Tavistock player who paid a visit to A & E after trying to go through Mount Robinson (an unwise decision if ever there was one) a speedy recovery. |
