Match Report | Good karma, bad karma In the absence of Simon Jones, vice captain Matt Tookey took the reins for what turned out to be an indifferent game. Lots of effort in the first half, but apart from a 15 minute spell late on, too many misplaced passes and a lack of incisive movement up front meant that Torbay just didn't get firing and although PGSOBs had very few shots, Torbay only led by a superbly executed Dave Robinson penalty corner strike. There was some sharp interpassing down the right flank, but overall the game became a midfield slog with neither side able to gain a significant advantage. Positional changes for the second half made no impact and the game continued in a similar shapeless pattern. A slip at the back allowed Jacob Perry to equalise, but fortunately Torbay's blushes were saved by Malcolm Woodward passing the ball into the net with a few minutes to go. 2 - 1 and that's how it finished. A not entirely convincing win, but a win is a win, and championships are won by grinding out results when not playing well. The 3 points put Torbay clear in third place and next week should see more regular players return for the jaunt to the end of the line - Penzance. |
