Match Report | It was a typical afternoon in Tavistock, as the rain blew around the pitch. Always a late game, the flood lights and porta-cabin painted a miserable picture, which was only lifted by the standard of play on the pitch. From the start, Torbay dominated possession and threatened the Tavi goal on several occasions. Against the run of play Tavi broke and after a foul on Simon Street, the Tavi centre forward found himself clear on goal and left the Torbay keeper with little chance to prevent their first shot finding the back of the net. Torbay continued to play good possession hockey and after some good work down the left, Ted found some room. He danced past the Tavi defence, and following a strong run he fired a shot goal-bound. The blocked shot dropped at the feet of JJ who fired in an equaliser. JJ scores a second from a penalty corner, only to be disallowed. No one could understand why, but Torbay did well to keep their composure and keep playing on. The second half followed a similar pattern of play. Torbay’s dominating possession opened up gaps in the Tavi defence and after good play from Finley and a pin-point pass from Brett, Ted was able to score the winner in to an open goal. There was a man of the match performance from Harry in defence. |
